The Planning Division provides pre-development assistance and processes applications for land use permits, development projects, subdivisions, and conducts environmental review consistent with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Current Planning staff prepares the agenda and staff reports for meetings of the Planning Commission and the Heritage Preservation Committee. Planning Commission
The Planning Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and holds public hearings for conditional use permits, subdivision, and parcel map applications. The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding revisions to the General Plan, Specific Plans, and Zoning Ordinance.

Meeting notices are sent out to property owners adjacent to proposed projects and in the Colusa County Sun-Herald. The Public is encouraged to attend and voice their concerns regarding items before the commission. Time is set aside at the beginning of the meeting to hear comments from the public for items not on the agenda.

Planning Commissioners are appointed by the City Council to four-year terms.
