BOAT RAMP ON THE SACRAMENTO RIVER PROJECT

In new Interim Director for Boating and Waterways, Lucia Bucerra, is working with the County and City of Colusa to free up the $340,000 in planning grant money to make a new, 12 month a year accessible, public boat ramp. The use of the existing boat ramp has been hampered by a change in the path of the river. With this channel change, the existing boat ramp is only usable to launch boats a few months each year.
The proposed new boat ramp is a great example of inter-governmental and public-private cooperation. The State Parks and the City of Colusa have entered into a joint operational agreement for the new boat ramp. The Nature Conservancy and the State Park worked on a joint use plan which included the new boat ramp.
So what needs to be done? Boating and Waterways placed some conditions on releasing the grant funds. The City of Colusa City Council agreed to those conditions with on June 1, 2010 (see 06012010 - Agenda Item). Once Boating and Waterways agrees that this Resolution meets their conditions, work can begin on final environmental reports and on engineering the ramp itself.
